Welcome to Heroes of Might and Magic Mini! Your trials in battle may very well earn you spoils beyond your imagination, but only if you choose your foes wisely and employ a solid strategy!
Choose Your Faction
You need only register your willingness to do battle, and you will be asked to choose the faction with which you care to ally. Choose carefully, as the strengths and capabilities of your army will depend on it. However, should you find your armies routed and your coffers dry after a sour campaign, you reserve the option to reset your army and gain favor with another faction or the same, although at the cost of any riches you may have acquired. After choosing your faction you will be presented with the opportunity to build your first army, and offered the same starting Treasure.
Build & Edit Your Army
If this is your first time building an army, a default army will already be created for you in the Your Army section, and a total of 5000 Treasure. However, you will see before you a field of worthy soldiers, powerful and capable each in their own right. Each unit type can be recognized by its battle emblem as infantry, cavalry, ranged, magic or flying. These battle styles come into play as you define your strategy against an enemy. Using the following chart you can better understand the relationships between unit styles, and the strengths and weaknesses of each:

Each unit type also clearly shows its offensive and defensive prowess, allowing you to weigh their capability in battle versus their cost. Once you have reviewed your options, drag the first desired unit type to Your Army, and set the quantity of this unit type in the supplied field. You can have up to 50 soldiers per unit. Continue to edit your army as you see fit, and that will fit within your starting budget. The army costs will calculate automatically, and you will be able to see both your total available treasure as well as the cost of your army directly below your units.
Once you are satisfied with your army, select Build Army to commit your forces and enter your Command area. It is from this area where you will command your forces, allowing you options depending on your field status.
Field Status
Your field status decides your readiness for battle. While you are in the City you will be able to edit your army and scout your enemies' forces, as well as to see which enemy armies within your current army's capability are currently in the field, prepared for battle. In the Scout Enemies area you can also search for enemies not listed by username or email, and invite opponents into the fold to be crushed under the might of your army!
You will also be able to enter the field from the City. While in the City you cannot challenge another army, but you also cannot be challenged. The City is a safe haven, however allowing your army to sit and grow fat will result in no gain to you or your fame!
Once you enter your army into the field, you are ready to engage the enemy. At this point you will notice that available armies now have a Challenge button, allowing you to immediately engage in battle with that opponent. You can, however, also click on the opponent's name to view his or her profile to review his battle statistics, awarded badges and a better view of his army. Opponent search and invitation functions remain available from the field.
You can also be attacked while in the field! Make sure you only enter the field, and remain in the field, with a ready army. At any time you can be attacked by a challenger, and you will be given the opportunity to review their army, and either engage or retreat to the City. As no true commander would back down from a challenge, you should instead accept the opportunity to spill blood, and ready your orders!
Issue Your Orders
Whether you are engaging an enemy yourself, or accepting a challenge, once you enter battle are will be presented with the need to issue your orders. Your men are counting on you to make informed decisions, and their lives, and your honor, are depending on them.
You are presented with a listing of both your forces and those of your opponent. You have five orders to assign, one for each round of the battle. Drag your unit representation to that of the enemy unit you will attack with it. You will see this order issued in the iconic representation now illustrated as Order #1. From here, issue the remainder of your orders in the same way. The red number indicates the current order you are assigning. Should you care to change a particular order, simply click the number of the order you want to re-issue.
There are no restrictions to which unit attacks which opposing unit, nor how many times any particular unit is engaged. However, keep in mind that your opponent will be issuing their secret orders as well, and leveraging the power of your entire army and second guessing the enemy's orders will be keys to a decisive victory. Make sure to recall the strengths and weaknesses of your units, as illustrated at the bottom of the orders area, as well as earlier in this briefing.
When you are confident with your decisions, select Issue Orders, and you will be returned to Command. If you are the challenger, you must await the defender's challenge acceptance and orders before the battle will proceed. Simply wait in command and the information will update automatically, allowing you to see the status of your opponent. When the battle commences, the battle results will be displayed for you.
If you are the defender, the challenger's orders are already placed, and battle will immediately commence, and the results displayed!
Keep an eye out for messages via email as well, as your results will be sent directly to you, unless you've chosen to opt-out of email communications. Either way you will be able to review all of your past battles by selecting on from your profile or by clicking the Log button on any screen.
Battle Spoils
Your spoils in battle, and those of your opponents, will be calculated based on the cost of opposing units destroyed, and bonuses awarded for eliminating entire units and for winning the battle. All spoils will be in the form of Treasure, allowing you to replenish and enhance your armies and fatten your coffers.
Victory
Victory in battle is based on the number of complete units destroyed. For instance, if the challenger destroys two of the defenders' complete units without losing any complete units, he has decisively won the battle. If the same challenger destroys two complete units, but loses one complete unit, the challenger is still the winner, although he does not receive a decisive victory. If there is a tie in number of complete units lost, including no complete units lost on either side, the victor is the army who accomplishes the highest point total of damage against his opponent. If in the rare occasion there is a point total tie, the defender wins the battle.
Treasure & Your Vault
As you prove yourself in battle, the spoils from your victories will go directly into your Vault, adding to your total worth. This treasure can be used to replenish your army and employ bigger and better unit types as you progress through the game.
Badges
To highlight your accomplishments and actions in the heat of battle, badges will be awarded to you throughout your campaigns. Keep an eye on your profile for new badges to adore and shine up during your R&R.
Recruits
If you're looking to place on the recruits leaderboard, or just want the badges, bring your friends into the battle either by email invitation or by giving them a special link. Head to the invite page for more information.
Reset Your Army
In the Edit Army area you will be able to reset your army at any time while you are in the City, should your forces meet too much misfortune on the battlefield or if you just want a change of pace. You'll keep your badges and win/loss record if you reset, but your troops and treasure will be history.
